Ebonyi State Gov't Closes Abakaliki Rice Mill

The government of the state of Ebony directed the immediate closure of the infamous rice mills Abakaliki after discovering some sacks of falsified and poisonous rice, presumably found in a rice factory.

The state government also stated that it initiated an investigation into this matter.
At a joint press briefing organized by the state commissioner for information and orientation, Senator Emmanuel Onve, he said that the decision to seal the mill was reached at the current state executive council.
"We do not know where the rice was falsified or poisoned, but the state of the poison, but we know that it was brought to the attention of the state environmental commissioner who referred the case to the state executive council."
"The bag was boldly written 'Not suitable for human consumption'.
Now the government has taken an adequate step and directed that the right ministries should investigate the issue.
"The order to close the Abakaliki rice is to protect people's lives, as a responsible government, and that's what we did," he said.
